Advanced Internet Marketing Technique #5 - Back End Products
The last advanced internet marketing technique we will look at is using back end products to increase profits. Back end products are products that you sell to your existing customers after they buy their first product from you.
For example, if you sell one of your ebooks to a new customer, you might later sell them a course that goes into greater depth than the ebook. The course that you later sell is a back end product. The ebook is a front end product.
Why is it important to have backend products in your online business? Well, a great way to explain why is to illustrate what would happen if an online business had no back end products.
So imagine that you have an online business that sells a dog training ebook. If that is all that you sell, it means that once someone buys your ebook and trains their dog, they no longer need anything from you, forever!
They bought your ebook, trained their dog and are happy. You made your $47 or so for that sale and that’s the end of your relationship with your customer.
In other words, each customer that you acquire is only worth $47 to your internet marketing business. Actually less, when you factor in advertising and other costs.
That’s what happens if you don’t have any back end products to offer. Now contrast the above example with this one. Using the dog training online business again, let’s imagine you sell your $47 ebook as a front end product.
However, this time, you also sale a $97 course that covers topics that the ebook does not. Further still, you offer $297 “Acceleration Group Coaching Sessions” where you show 20 dog owners how to have complete command over their dog in less than 30 days.
Now you would have a far more profitable online business. You would make more money because of the 2 back end products you have to offer existing customers.
Once someone buys your ebook, they might later buy your $97 course or join your $297 coaching program if they want to train their dog really quickly.
Now every customer could have a potential worth of $300 or more. So it is imperative to have some backend products in your online business. You don’t even have to have your own products.
If you are an affiliate, you could promote a cheap affiliate product, such as an ebook on the front end.
You could then promote other people’s courses and coaching products on the back end. This would be more profitable for you than if you just promoted a $47 ebook as an affiliate.
So selling front end AND backend products works whether you sell your own products or promote other people’s products as an affiliate.
The beautiful thing about this advanced internet marketing technique is that it does not really cost you any more money to make more money, at least in the long run.
Once you add backend products to your list of products, you can enjoy more profits from your customers for years.
That’s why it is imperative to build a list no matter which online business model you use. If you are an affiliate marketer without your own list, you can’t sell back end products. That means your profits are limited. However, with a list, the sky is the limit.
So those are the 5 advanced internet marketing techniques we will look at for now. I hope you have found them helpful.
